Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need a website?

Yes ! If you have ever advertised in any way, or talked about your business with anyone then you should have a website.

Here are a few reasons why:

A website acts as a giant public bulletin board.

People can get information on how to find you, where you are located, what you have to offer, why your service is unique, and what’s new in your company. It also is easily updated and changed frequently, and is a communication forum through which your customers can communicate back to you with questions, concerns and feedback on their needs.

It has become expected.

In the last few years having a website has gone from being something that is nice to have to something that your customers expect. When people search for your business on the internet, they will either find you or they will find the next guy.

Marketing.

Websites beat adverts hands down. They are more cost effective and can be kept up to date. First imagine what you could do with a few centimetres of space in a phone directory.

With a website, you can:

Provide all of your contact details.

Provide directions to where you are.

Show photographs of your previous work.

Show good comments you have received from your customers.

Provide an online form for your customers to complete giving you exactly the information you require to provide a quote.

Add documents for your visitors to download to distribute your monthly specials or maybe allow prospective employees to download an application form.

Provide news, hints and tips.

...the list is endless

What costs are involved?

Having a website invloves three basic costs.

Having your website built.

This is the one time big cost.

Websites can be small and straightforward or large and complex which means the cost varies.

For most businesses the cost will be between $500 - $2000.

For other forms of advertising this would be a cost that would come around every year but with a website you are paying for a tool that you own and can continue to use for communication and marketing.

Hosting

This is essentially the space you rent on the internet for your website to live in.

Your domain name

This is your address on the internet - the www.yourbusiness.co.nz

The good news is we can take care of all your hosting, domain name, maintenance and updates for you for $30 per month.

This is entirely optional and you are welcome to do this part yourself.

Additional Costs

Maintenance and updating

Changing details, adding some more information, providing statistics of how many people are visiting your site etc. This is all included in your $30 per month or else we provide the service at our usual hourly rate for our clients who just want the website built.

Email services

If you want a lot of email addresses set up for your business (i.e. more than 5) or you want a visit to set up your email we can provide this at an extra cost.

Internet marketing

You might have noticed when you do a search on google that some businesses appear down the right hand side of the page. This is good cost effective way to advertise. We can get this set up for you if you require it.

I don't really use computers - I wouldn't know where to start?

No problem.

You know your business and your customers - that's all we need to get started.

Our aim is to make having a website as easy for you as possible. You can be as involved as you want. If you want us to take care of everything that's ok with us.

If you can use email it makes things a bit easier for communicating and sending information back and forth.

If you have a computer that has an internet connection at home or at work but can't use email, we will be happy to come out and give you a free 30 minute crash course in using email.

If I was interested, what do I do?

Give us a call on 021 410 934 or send us an email through our contact page.

I'll either meet you somewhere convenient and buy you a coffee or I can come to your home or place of business.

We have a quick chat about what your business does, who you aim for, what you want from a website.

If you have any pictures that you want on a website, a business card, your logo or any information you want to go on your website bring it along.

If you know of any websites you like the look of, jot them down and bring them along.

About a week or two later I will put a first draft of your website up on my website for you to look over.

Send me an email to tell me what you like and what you don't.

(We usually go back and forward like this a few times until you are happy)

Decide how you want to deal with the hosting and maintenance etc.

I will upload your site to the internet

All done !

Once your site is up you can then use your web address in your stationery and other advertising as well as using your new email addresses with your company name in them !

Our Guarantee

We want you to be happy with your website which is why we have no problems in making you the guarantee that you will not pay a cent until you are 100% satisfied.

If we have to redraft your site fifty times, that's ok. You having a great experience and recommending Garvie Design is far more important to us than just getting paid.
